Why we're Green
We are a small office in a mixed-use building. We tried to get the building to start offering recycling bins, but they refused after they found out they'd have to pay an increased trash fee for the service. So we decided to start separating our trash for them in order to prevent cross contamination. Recyclables go into one container, everything else goes into another. Also, we purchased reusable dishware and silverware and run our dishwasher when full, replacing our old system of using paper plates and plastic utensils. We have a scrap paper box in the copy room, require two-sided printing, and have a donation box where tchotchkes and other still-usable, but unwanted, items are set aside for Goodwill. Lights are shut off before we leave and we offer a wellness program, which provides employees with a reusable water bottle and incentivizes them to use it throughout the work day.
