About
Since the firm’s inception in 1980, Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, Inc. (RNT) has been committed to creating energy efficient and sustainable facilities that respond positively to the spirit of place. As a matter of practicality and functionality for the client, the project should efficiently use energy and minimize environmental impacts. In addition, we believe that a project should stand the test of time. They should be durable, low maintenance and provide a sense of permanence.
Why we're Green
For 32 years Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, Inc. (RNT) has worked with its clients on projects that utilize existing buildings and introduce infrastructure to significantly improve the building’s functionality and sustainability. In our commitment to energy efficient and sustainable facilities, we selected our Ventura office location for its natural daylighting and passive heating/cooling opportunities. We installed a HVAC unit that uses a programmable thermostat with large setbacks -- the office also relies on thermal mass and passive solar heat gain. Lighting was chosen for its efficacy. Lights are operated on timers and sensors. Interior finishes are durable and require minimal maintenance. Our cement floor was sealed with a low VOC product (the office space has no carpet).
