Why we're Green
Located in Cupertino's 23-acre McClellan Ranch Nature Preserve, the EEC's main purpose is to provide education on the environment and sustainability to the local community, as well as help bring the citizens of Cupertino a little closer to nature. Programs, classes and summer camps are offered to teach all members of the community, children to adults, the importance of sustainable living, green practices, and the value of preserving natural resources and habitats. In addition to operations and services dedicated to sustainability, as a City of Cupertino facility the EEC was built to reflect the City's dedication to sustainability. The EEC is landscaped with drought-resistant, native plants, uses efficient lighting, appliances, faucets and toilets, and actively composts as much of its biodegradable waste as possible.
