Acterra is an environmental nonprofit serving the serving the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is to bring people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet. We do this by providing education and advocacy opportunities to further climate-friendly choices at home, at work, on the road, and in state and local policy. All of our work is solutions- and equity-oriented. Why we're Green
As an environmental nonprofit, Acterra has always been a showcase for good green practices. In 1993, Acterra’s early predecessor did a lighting retrofit and then in early 2000, before it was popular, a solar PV system was added to the building. Acterra was one of first to get certified as a green business in the county in 2002. Saving energy and water along with recycling and using less toxic cleaning products have always been second nature to Acterra’s programs and Acterra’s home.
